Value Creation
Success:
Earl Nightingale defines success as,
“the progressive realization of a worthy ideal”.
[Source: ‘The Strangest Secret in the
world’, 1950. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yOsQHlH9k8].
Any person that works continually
towards a predetermined goal, and achieves it, is considered a successful
person. Simply put, Success can be judged, based upon achievement
of your goals.
Examples:
- A person, who is obese, sets a specific goal
to lose weight and become healthy. He starts eating healthier foods,
exercises regularly, and in a few weeks time, looks fit and healthy.
He has achieved his goal, and hence he is considered successful.
- A stock broker buys his dream home that he
aimed for, from the money he made using trading, he is considered
successful.
Undoubtedly, success is important and
in more ways necessary to survive and stay motivated. In
the above examples however, have these ‘successful people’ contributed anything
valuable to the world?
Value Creation:
Value creation on the
other hand, is all about one’s contribution to the world. It
is about making the positive difference for the others.
The people who have the most influence on our lives, the people who have
changed the way we think, our outlook towards the world, and changed the way we
live, for the better, are the people of value rather than people of success.
Let us consider one of the above examples here:
- The person, who suffered from obesity, chose to take actions to lose weight, and live a healthier lifestyle; he achieved his goal, and became a success story.
- Soon, he realizes that there are lots of people out there who are suffering from the same problem, and he knows he can help resolve this problem, because he has had the first-hand experience of it.
- He designs and conducts a workshop, writes extensively about his journey to a healthier lifestyle, and shares all his experiences. People take-in his advice, work the plan and they become successful too. With this, he has contributed something positive. He has helped people think and lead a better and healthier life. He has created value.
Value Creation and Success is not an
either or proposition. Both are absolutely essential, the urge is that
the Creation of Value should take precedence.
Some of the greatest discoveries like
the electricity, inventions like the light bulb and the telephone have had
tremendous positive impact on our lives. The men responsible are some of
the most valuable men in the world.

How can you create value?
Creating Value is a simple process!
But simple isn't necessarily easy, as the wise-men say.
In order to create/add
value, all you have to do is express your real self.
There are problems, all
around us, hundreds of them. Most people choose to complain and then
learn to live with them; they never ask the necessary questions to resolve the
problems. They even become oblivious to the fact over time. Your
opportunities lie here, just by looking around you, intently, always asking the
question, “What is missing in this picture?”, and then you start thinking of
ways to resolve those problems – one at a time.
You know that Imagination
is everything (scroll down to refer the title), so start imagining and expressing your real self. Let the
world see and experience your creation, let them come back for more. And
with that you would have created value.
Start Creating now, Good
luck!!
Please share your thoughts, comments and feedback to derive more value..

Imagination is EVERYTHING!
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.” – Albert Einstein
Imagine a world without imagination, and you will
realize that there can be no future, no ‘reality’ without imagination. Well, what is reality? Reality is all of your experiences that determine how things appear to you.
Let us understand the two key terms: Experience and Appearance.
To experience
something means to undergo an emotional sensation or to be in a particular
state of mind; while appearance means
to give certain impression or have a certain outward aspect. Reality then is no more than your state of
mind that determines every outward aspect of your world.
In other words, reality is the physical
manifestation of the mental image you hold in your mind of yourself and the
world at large. The process of the formation of this mental image is Imagination. So, whatever you can imagine can be real.
“Everything you can imagine is real” – Pablo Picasso
When we claim a person to be imaginative, what
we mean is that that person is marked by independence and creativity in thought
or action. The truth is, all of us can
be extremely imaginative – free and creative in our thoughts and actions. We can literally CREATE a world the way we
want it to be, the way we imagine it to be.
Wow, isn't that an exhilarating feeling: to realize that you possess the
ability to CREATE a more beautiful, more joyous world, if you can just feed your
imagination and not ignore it?
“Imagination is the golden-eyed monster that
never sleeps. It must be fed; it cannot be ignored.” ― Patricia
A. McKillip
Every great thing that was ever achieved in the
history of the mankind and every great thing yet to come to life in the real
world, at some point in time, was and will be in someone’s imagination first. That imagination when coupled with focused effort/action
can make this world an even better place.
YOU can make this world a better place, Imagine that!
“Find your risk and you will find yourself. Sometimes that means leaving your home, your
father’s house, and your birthplace, and travelling to strange lands. Both the biblical Abraham and the Buddha do
this quite literally. But for the
cabbalist the true journey does not require dramatic breaks with past and
home. It is rather a journey of the imagination.”
– Marc Gafni
So, let your mind imagine, let there be no
boundaries, no barriers. Imagine
whatever it is that you want, as YOU become the CREATOR of your future and your reality.
Imagine that now!!
“The painter has to wrestle with color, canvas and brushes, the
sculptor with stone and chisel...yet, the creative act, their ‘vision’ of what
they are going to create, transcends time.
It is the same for every manifestation of being. The experience of loving, of joy, of grasping
truth does not occur in time, but in the here and now. The here and now is eternity...” – Erich Fromm
